TA Criteria and Application Process
The College of Engineering and Computer Science at Florida Atlantic University annually provides more than
20 Graduate Assistantships to new graduate students. A total of $200,000 is expected to be allocated annually
to these new assistantships. The assistantships are intended to attract top-quality students into the
College’s graduate program. Assistantship stipends will vary, depending on student
classification (MS or PhD) and FTE level. The total number of students supported will thus vary from
year to year. Part of student tuition will be also covered by the assistantship.
Selection Criteria and Guidelines
The following criteria and guidelines will be applied in the awarding of all Dean’s Graduate Assistantships:
- The assistantships will be solely for incoming joint BS/MS Program students, new doctoral students, and
Direct BS-to-PhD Program students. Approximately half of the funding will be used to attract new doctoral
students.
- The assistantships will be for one year. A tentative plan for follow-on support for PhD students should
be provided by the department at the time of application.
- Support may be given either at the level of 20 hours/week or 10 hours/week.
Application Process
- Students will be informed of the program through brochures, graduate workshops hosted by the
college, and college and departmental web pages.
- Students should submit their application forms directly to the Office of the Dean of the College
of Engineering and Computer Science (S&E, room 308).
Application deadlines:
March 1 for the Fall semester
October 1 for the Spring semester
