Overview
At FAU, students can enroll in one or more courses encompassing five
different disciplines each semester. FEEDS students follow the same
admissions and registration policies as their counterparts who take
courses on campus.
Engineering credit courses in support of degree programs and professional
development are available through FAU FEEDS in the following disciplines:
A master of science degree can be obtained through FEEDS. The
College of Engineering & Computer Science minimum requirements
for admission into a graduate degree program are as follows:
- A baccalaureate degree in engineering from an ABET accredited
institution. Degrees in other science-related fields may be accepted
on an individual basis and may require additional course work
in engineering.
- A minimum combined score of 1,000 for the verbal and
quantitative portions of a recent (within the last 5 years) Graduate
Record Examination (GRE) and/or a minimum grade point average
of 3.0 out of a possible 4.0 for all undergraduate work taken
during the last two years of the applicant's studies. Some departments
may have additional requirements.
All degree-seeking students are encouraged to contact the graduate
advisor in their discipline of interest.

Steps to Get Started
Students wishing to register for a course or pursue a degree should
follow these steps in parallel:
- Contact the FEEDS office:

Fax: (561) 297-2659
E-mail: feeds@fau.edu
Apply for admission to Florida
Atlantic University. Application deadlines are listed on the
Graduate Application. To obtain a graduate application contact
the
Office of Graduate Admissions and Graduate Studies at (561) 297-3624,

Request that transcripts be sent to FAU from all prior institutions
attended.
- Contact the department which you are applying to for additional
requirements.
Students are encouraged to enroll in courses concurrent with
the admission process. However, a student must be admitted by

DROP/ADD and Withdrawal Deadlines
Once courses are selected for the semester, no changes in course
status occur unless the student initiates the changes. To drop or
add a course(s), the University's formal drop/add procedure must
be followed by completing the DROP/ADD
form. NOTE: The form should be processed
through the FEEDS Office.
FAU FEEDS makes all efforts to compensate for time and distance
factors but it is ultimately the responsibility of the student to
meet all deadlines. For further information regarding the drop/add
procedure, contact the FEEDS office at (561)
297-3402.
Application for Graduation
All students must file an "Application
for Degree" form by the published deadline during the semester
preceding the semester in which you expect to complete degree requirements.
An "Admission to Candidacy" must be submitted at least one semester
prior to applying for graduation.
See the Directions for Applying for Graduation for a helpful list of what to do.

Academic Advising
Academic advising is considered an integral part of any educational
program. FAU FEEDS requires each degree-status student to work with
an academic faculty advisor.
The advising process can be carried out via telephone, e-mail, or
an office visit. Students are always welcome to see their advisors
on campus.

On-Site Library Media Center Procedures
DVD's of all courses offered through FEEDS during the current semester
are available at the Boca Raton Campus Library
Media Center. Only students registered with FEEDS are permitted
to view DVD's, and are given first priority in the Library Media
Center. DVDs may not be available when the semester has ended.
Exams
The instructor is the final authority on requirements for secure
testing. FEEDS students who view the DVDs at the Library Media Center
are expected to take the test with the on-campus class. If a conflict
arises, contact the instructor for approval and notify the FEEDS
office. The FEEDS office will arrange a time to have the exam proctored. However, the student must take the exam the same day as the on-campus
class. Graded exams are placed in sealed envelopes with the students'
name on them and should be picked up at the Library Media Center.
Handouts and Assignments
Handouts and assignments are available for FEEDS students viewing
the DVDs at the Library Media Center on a regular basis. Please
check regularly for handouts and assignments. Students may place
completed assignments in the FEEDS drop-box provided in the Library
Media Center. These are collected daily and are given to the appropriate
instructors. Graded assignments are returned to the Library Media
Center.

Remote Site Procedures
Each student should be familiar with the operation of the equipment
at the remote site. If not, please check with the site coordinator.
Exams
The instructor is the final authority on requirements for secure
testing. Conflicts with the requirements should be resolved with
the instructor. If an instructor approves a different time to take
an exam, contact the FEEDS office to arrange it.
Handouts
Handouts for remote sites accompany the DVDs. Not
every class will have handouts.
Computer Resources
Some courses may require access to computer resources for remote
sites. Contact the faculty member to determine if and how these
resources may be used.
Computer Science and Computer Engineering (CSE) UNIX Account
Activation
Please note that you MUST be an FAU Computer Science or Computer
Engineering (CSE) student OR be registered for a class taught by
the CSE Department in order to register for an account.
Remote users can telnet to www.cse.fau.edu/Resources/pluto.html
For further information contact the System Administration office
at (561)297-2801 or help@help.eng.fau.edu
Grading Policy
As a part of the College of Engineering, all FEEDS students must
adhere to the same grading policies as on-campus students. If business
trips or other occurrences prevent a student from meeting homework
or exam deadlines, the student should immediately contact the instructor.
Due to the delayed receipt of final examinations and projects,
FEEDS students will often receive an "NR" on their grade report.
This allows the faculty member to complete a change of grade which
in turn is processed by the Office of the Registrar. "NR" grades
will not affect academic standing or grade point average.
